flughafen again

Apologies, apologies, apologies. Once again I was traveling with no access to a computer. Been traveling alot lately, which is one of the advantages of living in the center of Europe. So here's yet another shot of Zürich's photogenic airport, which is always nice to come back to after spending some time in a large chaotic city (well, chaotic in comparison to Zürich) where you can't understand the language, or even read the street signs.

flughafen cafe

Here's another cafe at the other end of the main terminal at the Zürich airport. This shot was taken a few minutes after I took the picture from yesterday's post--after I had a chance to pick up a "schoggi gipfeli" (chocolate croissant) for the flight.

flughafen bar

I went away for the weekend again, so here's another airport picture: one of the cafe/bars in the main shopping area at the ungodly hour of 7 a.m on Friday morning.

pop quiz: solution

Elsa, Lavenderlady and Don got it right away: it was a close-up of the seats at the airport. I guess my second pop quiz wasn't as challenging as I had thought. Z's guess was creative though!

taking care of business and breaking the rules

Apparently this guy had some pressing business that he needed to attend to before boarding the plane, so he used part of the sculpture as his own makeshift office. Clearly, he didn't read (or simply chose to ignore) the sign below:

At least he wasn't climbing up the sculpture...

airport art

Apologies for missing a few days, but I was traveling and away from a computer for a while. But this gives me an excuse to show some pictures of the Zürich airport again. Pictured here is a boxy abstract sculpture that's fun to look at from many different angles. Terminal E, gate 53.

chocolatier

Because this is Switzerland, the airport just has to have a chocolate shop (or 2, or 3...) in the airside shopping area. The Lindt store has a 'chocolate chef' and travelers can watch as he makes the fancier truffles and chocolates. This time he was just putting some finishing touches on the Easter chocolates and bunnies.

killing time

Here's another shot from Flughafen Zürich. Apart from waiting in long lines, this is probably how most people spend their time at airports: sitting around, having some coffee, sitting around, catching up on work, sitting around, reading, sitting around, fiddling with their 'crackberries' (woman on top right), sitting around, talking on their cellphones, sitting around...
What do you do to kill time in airports?

hcirüZ nefahgulF

I just got back from a long weekend in Rome, so I'm posting the obligatory "I-was-at-the-Flughafen Zürich (Zürich Airport)" picture. I may post some more airport shots in the next couple of days, once I get a chance to go through all my pictures and choose a few that I like.
