huh?!?

Don't even ask what this was all about, because I have absolutely no idea. I spotted this man in drag sporting a humongous, um, afro (?) with an oversized bow, strutting down Bahnhofstrasse at lunch time. This certainly earned him some strange looks from passersby (check out the old guy in the second picture). It must have been a photo shoot for something because there was a professional photographer and a woman who kept on stopping to fix and touch up his, uh, wig. The funniest part was when the guy walked by the Bulgari (jewelry) store, stopped in his tracks and squealed (yes, he squealed) , "oooh, Bulgari! I loooooove Bulgari!!" The photographer had to urge him to move along.

Touching up

I've been tagged by Jazzy in Tuzla, and now I'm supposed to reveal 8 things you probably don't know about me:

  1. I speak 4 1/2 languages, German being the half language (more like only 1/4 language) because I find it so incredibly difficult. The others were easy peasy in comparison.
  2. I know how to knit, but nothing more complicated than a scarf or a hat...
  3. My immediate family is scattered across 3 different continents.
  4. My left foot is slightly bigger than my right foot.
  5. I don't know how to whistle.
  6. When I was little, I used to be terrified of dogs. I used to run away from them screaming and crying, and of course they would chase after me. Somehow I got over that, and now I really want a pet dog.
  7. I learned how to snowboard when I came to Switzerland, but I'm still scared of speed.
  8. I have two passports.

These are the rules:

  1. Link to your tagger and post these rules.
  2. List eight (8) random facts about yourself.
  3. Tag eight (or three or four) people at the end of your post and list their names (linking to them).
  4. Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving them a comment on their blogs.

Now it's my turn to tag a few other bloggers. I'm only tagging 4 people because most other Daily Photo Bloggers I checked have already been tagged by someone else...

Perhaps if I knew the goal or outcome of this photo shoot or get-up, I'd be more charitable, but I think it's really, really bizarre. S/he looks like a giant unkempt poodle.

When I seen it on the portal, I wasn't sure if he or she was coming or going.

Could pass this by in the portal. A hoot! And glad I couldn't because it's been great reading your list.

Oh dear dear dear! I’m so glad to receive a visit for someone who has been to Figueira before but on the other hand you did put me in a so difficult situation! I’m really so sorry ainz but I will have to decline your tag (please don’t be angry with me, is just that I do not enjoy particularly this tag things!)

Hahaha... this is a project by Athi Patra Ruga a fashion designer and performance artist from South Africa. He did this in cooperation with me, I am a photographer based Zürich.
This session was the last of 3. The first we shot in a flock of sheep, it was really foggy and the sheep frantic - guess they didn't like the big black sheep. The second shoot was on a glacier - pretty cool and just a little difficult. walking on a glacier is a bit dangerous, especially with high heels.
the pictures will be exhibited in Bern from October 31. until the middle of November.

The shoot in Zurich caused a lot of reactions from people. from very positive to negative. many of them believed it had something to do with the swiss facist campaign against black sheep. In any case it stimulated a thinking process in people. which is probably a good thing...

oliver--thanks for the info! So you must be the guy in the reddish sweatshirt, then? would love to see the finished product--especially the glacier pics, but I probably won't make it to Bern as I will be traveling at that time. is there a website? at the time I didn't even think of the black sheep...I just thought it was one of those random bizarre Zurich things. I first thought of an afro, and then of an oversized poodle, perhaps because of the big bow. Now that you mention the sheep, it makes sense, given the context. Some students were out that same day selling black-sheep T-shirts at paradeplatz. good to get people thinking.
